Super Hop is back on tap! That brings up a question that has been debated by millions since the beginning of time (or at least since 1995): Who would win in a fight between Superman and Super Hop? No contest.. Super Hop would crush Superman. Think about it. Superman is the Man of Steel, but Super Hop has stainless kegs of steel. Superman stole the identity of a mild-mannered reporter, but Super Hop is incredibly bold. Superman lies to his girlfriend constantly, but Super Hop has strong hop character. Superman has a major identity crisis… Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Super Hop knows exactly who he is: It’s a BEER. Really, this is exactly the kind of stuff that should be discussed over a beer. Cheers!
A guy walked into the bar and asked Brenna for some helicopter-flavored potato chips. “Sorry,” she said, “we only have plane.”
And so began my trek to British Columbia. I grabbed my skis, donned my urban sombrero and set out for the land of helicopters, a million miles from nowhere, a place teeming with champagne powder, inspirational bartenders, and over-dramatic blog posts. I’m on the hunt for helicopter chips and big ideas. At the very least, I’m sure to return with some good stories.
In the meantime, back in the real world, the Pocono Beverage Trail (PBT) is being officially launched today at Barley Creek. The Trail is all about the hunt for local craft beverages. For $25, you can buy a passport that gets you special discounts, tastings and incentives at local breweries, distilleries and wineries on the Trail, including Barley Creek (of course). This weekend, all participating PBT locations are hosting a January Jammies Party, with different specials at each stop on the trail. Barley Creek will be featuring a special Beverage Trail tasting, along with drink and appetizer specials for PBT passport holders. At Barley Creek, you don’t even need to wear your jammies. Wait, let me clarify that… you DO have to wear clothes.
Cheers and happy trails!
On the fourth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me: 4 firkin updates, 3 crowler packs, 2 window floors, and a Winterfest on tap tomorrow.
4 Firkin Updates: Firkin Curling worked… for about 4 seconds. Then, it got warm and the ice melted. Check out the video on Facebook.
3 Crowler Packs: Crowler 3-packs of Barley Creek signature brews are on sale this weekend, December 22-24. Stock up your stockings now!
2 Window Floors: After a month lost in transit, bouncing from the UK, to Canada, over the hills and through the woods, to the dark and dusty corners of JFK airport, our new Brewtique window floors were finally tracked down by a very angry Liam Neeson. These floors have a very particular set of skills… you can see through them to the Lager Fermentation Room below. Cool stuff. The new Brewtique will be open soon. Stop by and check it out.
And a Winterfest on tap tomorrow: Happy Winter Solstice and cheers to the fastest sunset of the year. Remember, by tomorrow the days will start getting longer again, so raise a glass of Winterfest and have a wonderful holiday season!
